Day 1.

This morning we board our deluxe motor coach and head forward into the past! Our destination is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where we値l be staying at the Holiday Inn in East Harrisburg. Evening dinner is at the hotel.

Day 2.

Today after breakfast, we値l head south to the Harper痴 Ferry National Historical Park. Throughout its history, Harpers Ferry has been the backdrop for remarkable and unparalleled events. Here, in one setting, several themes in the American story converge: Native Americans, industry and transportation, African-Americans, John Brown, the Civil War, and the natural environment. Harpers Ferry became part of the National Park System in 1944. The park covers over 2,300 acres in the states of West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. After concluding our stay here, we値l journey to Manassas National Battlefield Park. Manassas National Battlefield Park was established in 1940 to preserve the scene of two major Civil War battles. Located a few miles north of the prized railroad junction of Manassas, Virginia, the peaceful Virginia countryside bore witness to clashes between the armies of the North and South in 1861 and 1862. Today the battlefield park provides the opportunity for visitors to explore the historic terrain where men fought and died for their beliefs a century ago. Enjoy a late dinner enroute back to our hotel.

Day 3.

Enjoy breakfast and then a short trip to the brand new National Civil War Museum, the only museum in the United States that attempts to portray the story of the Nation痴 Civil War. These equally balanced presentations are humanistic in nature without bias to Union or Confederate causes. After lunch locally, we値l visit Gettysburg, site of the bloodiest clash of forces of the entire Civil War. The battlefield in now a National Park, and a trained park guide will accompany us on a tour of these hallowed grounds. After our dinner, a treat; do you believe in ghosts? Gettysburg may very well be, acre for acre, the most haunted place in America. Now, a knowledgeable guide will take you on a candlelight evening tour through sections of town that were bloody battlefields 13 decades ago; through night-darkened streets to houses and buildings where it's not as quiet as it should be; to sites on the old Pennsylvania College campus where the slain once lay in rows, and the wounded suffered horribly, waiting to become corpses themselves; to cemeteries where the dead lie . . . sometimes not so peacefully. After our visit we値l return to Harrisburg where you may enjoy the pool.

Day 4.

Leaving after breakfast, we値l travel north and east. But we still have one attraction left to see; Hershey Chocolate Town. After a tour and lunch, it痴 back home with a new appreciation of our American History.
